Solidaridad West Africa is using digital tools to reach #farmers and community facilitators amid the coronavirus pandemic. This morning, in #SierraLeone, 250 community facilitators are participating in a two-week digital training on integrated crop pest management and the establishment of Farmer Field Schools across nine virtual centres in 12 districts.The training, which is partly virtual and partly physical, is adhering to all social distancing measures to ensure that the safety of all participants is guaranteed. BAFS Sensitization and Supply of Hand Washing Materials and Sanitizers

The BAFS Project, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) and with funding from the European Union is supporting the MAF and farmers in land preparation for rice cultivation. Sanitation is a key part of farming activities to prevent COVID-19. Therefore, the BAFS Project has provided Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, hand wash, tissue towels, chlorine powder, and sensitization posters, banners and car stickers to the MAF district offices and farmers to help prevent the spread. The BAFS Project, is reaching out to farmers and farming households in all the regions of Sierra Leone to promote the prevention of the spread of COVID-19. We first hit it off in Port Loko District.

We simultaneously touched down in Kambia and Bombali, and later Tonkolili Districts distributing Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, hand wash, tissue towels, chlorine powder, and sensitization posters, banners and car stickers. As we do, our message is: COVID-19 is real, it is a common enemy, we must be challenged to take action.
